Hosts
A host is a myblogs website, like this one. A host runs the website, emails sign-in codes, stores files on IPFS and can sponsor publishing fees. Any number of hosts can exist, run by different people.
One community, many doors
Hosts that read the same registry show the same community: the same people, profiles and stories. Each host is a different door into the same room. If one host goes away, the community and your writing are still there, reachable through any other.
Each host still makes some choices of its own: what it hides (moderation), whose content it keeps copies of, and whether it pays publishing fees.
Keeping your writing available
Files on IPFS stay reachable as long as at least one computer keeps (pins) them. To keep yours safe:
- Ask other hosts to keep copies of your profile, stories and images. Each host decides what it accepts and how much space it offers.
- Export your board, and download your encrypted wallet backup and your list of hosts.
- Download this host’s public activity (likes, follows, thoughts) from Settings → Your data, and import it into another host.
Run your own host
You can run myblogs on your own server and domain with a guided setup. Use the same registry to join this community, or a different one to start a separate community. See Host your own myblogs.
