ABOUT MYBLOGS

Profiles, privacy and moderation

What is public, what stays private, usernames, deleting things, and who decides what is shown.

Logging in

Keep your recovery phrase private and safe. Anyone with those words controls your profile. If you lose them, nobody, including the host, can recover your wallet for you.

Usernames

Usernames are 3–24 characters: lowercase letters, numbers and underscores. Each one belongs to one wallet across the whole community, first come, first served. If the name you want is taken, myblogs suggests free ones as you type.

What is public

What stays private

Story analytics

Writers see how many people opened, read and shared their stories, and how readers arrived: a shared link, search, a social post, another website or a page of myblogs. Readers stay anonymous. The host keeps a random number stored in your browser, the name of the site you came from (never the full link), and the day. It doesn’t keep your IP address. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, your visits aren’t counted. Each host counts only its own visitors, and nothing is written to the blockchain.

Deleting

You can remove a story or a thought. It disappears from the registry and from every host that follows it. But public content is public: anyone may already have read it, and copies kept on IPFS or by other hosts may remain. Publish with that in mind.

Moderation

Each host decides what it shows. A host’s moderators can hide stories, thoughts or writers on that host. Hiding doesn’t delete anything, and other hosts make their own choices. On top of that, you can block any writer for yourself.

The rules are in the Terms of use, and what this host keeps is in Privacy.
