The short version
- What you publish is public: on IPFS, in the blockchain’s index, and on every host.
- What this host keeps is only what it needs to sign you in, save your work and run the site. It never sells it.
- Your recovery phrase and private key stay in your browser. The host never receives them.
What is public
- Your profile, your space, your stories, series and chapters, and the images in them.
- Your wallet address, and which profile and stories belong to it.
- Likes, thoughts and follows. They are signed by your wallet and copied between hosts.
What this host keeps
- Sign-in: your email address if you sign in with email or Google, the sessions that keep you signed in (for up to 7 days), and short-lived sign-in codes. With Google, the host asks Google only for your email address and keeps nothing else from your Google account.
- Your wallet backup: encrypted in your browser with your recovery phrase or passkey before it is sent. The host can’t open it.
- Drafts: drafts saved to your account are encrypted in your browser with a key from your wallet. The host can’t read them. Drafts an AI assistant sends you are kept as the assistant wrote them, until you use or delete them.
- Your choices: display settings, your place in each series, the series you follow and the emails about them, people you block, and reports you send.
- Your birthday: the date you give when you join, kept privately with your account so the host knows you’re 18 or older. Only you see it. If you choose, your profile shows its day and month, never the year. You can correct it once, within a day; after that, the people who run this host can reset it.
- Under-age answers: if a date of birth shows someone is under 18, no account is made and the date isn’t kept. Any sign-in codes for that new account are deleted. To stop another answer straight away, the host keeps a one-way code made from the email or wallet (which can’t be turned back into either) for 30 days, then deletes it, and the browser remembers the answer for the same time.
- Newsletter: if you sign up, your email address and when you confirmed it. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after a week. The people who run this host can export the list to send the newsletter with their mail service.
- AI assistants you connect: which assistant you allowed and what it may do, so you can disconnect it from your account page.
- Story analytics: anonymous counts for writers. The host keeps a random number from your browser, the name of the site you came from (never the full link) and the day. It doesn’t keep your IP address with them. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, your visits aren’t counted.
- Running the site: like most websites, the host’s servers see your IP address for each request, to deliver pages and to limit abuse.
Who else is involved
- An email service sends your sign-in codes, chapter emails and newsletter emails.
- If you choose Continue with Google, Google confirms your email address. Google’s own privacy terms apply to your Google account.
- Published content is read from IPFS content hosts and a public blockchain network.
- If you connect an AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, it reads what you allow it to through myblogs. Its own privacy terms apply to what you do there.
- Other hosts of this community copy public activity (likes, thoughts, follows), never your email, drafts, blocks or reports.
What stays in your browser
- Your recovery phrase and private key. If you choose “Remember this device”, your wallet stays unlocked here until you sign out.
- Drafts in progress, your theme and display choices, Mature content choices, and where you are in a story.
- A random number for anonymous analytics.
Your choices
- Download your public activity, and your encrypted wallet backup, from Settings → Your data and your account page.
- Remove stories or thoughts you published (see the Terms for what can’t be erased).
- Disconnect AI assistants, unfollow series, stop chapter emails and unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
- To have this host delete your email and account data, or reset or remove your birthday, contact the people who run it.
Changes
This page may change as myblogs grows. It shows the date of the latest change.
Grievances
This host hasn’t named a grievance officer yet. Write to the people who run it.
