Life

To the ones who are tired of being strong.

you don't have to be okay to be here.

I don't know what brought you here.

Maybe it was one of those nights when your thoughts became too loud, and you needed something to read that wouldn't ask you to smile at the end of it.

Maybe something happened today. Or maybe nothing happened at all, and somehow, that's what makes it harder to explain. You're just tired. Tired in a way that sleep doesn't seem to fix. Tired of carrying things you don't know how to put into words.

Maybe you've become really good at pretending.

You laugh at the right moments. You reply to messages. You show up when people need you. You tell everyone you're fine because explaining why you're not feels like another responsibility you don't have the energy for.

And then you find yourself alone, and suddenly, you don't have to pretend anymore.

I think there's a particular kind of loneliness that comes from being surrounded by people and still feeling like nobody really sees you.

Not because nobody is physically there, but because you don't know who you can fall apart in front of. Because you're afraid that if you tell someone how heavy everything has become, they'll look at you differently. Or worse, they'll tell you that other people have it harder.

So you swallow it.

You become your own comfort, your own reassurance, your own person to come home to. And somewhere along the way, you start wondering what it would feel like if, just once, someone else took care of you without being asked.

Someone who noticed the change in your voice.

Someone who remembered the little things you said weeks ago.

Someone who chose you, not because you were useful to them, not because you were always available, not because you made their life easier, but simply because you mattered to them.

Someone who made you feel like you didn't have to earn your place in their life every single day.

And perhaps that's what hurts sometimes. Not just the absence of people, but the absence of feeling important to them.

I wish I could tell you that I have figured out how to make all of this hurt less. That I know exactly what to do when the world feels too heavy, when hope becomes a word you no longer know how to believe in, or when you're tired of being told to keep going by people who have no idea what it takes just to get through an ordinary day.

But I don't have all the answers.

And I don't want this place to be another corner of the internet where someone tells you how to fix yourself.

You are not a broken machine.

You are a person. A person who has lived through things that might not make sense to anyone else. A person who can be grateful for what they have and still grieve what they don't. A person who can love people deeply and still feel lonely. A person who can want to keep going and, at the same time, admit that going has been difficult.

Two things can be true at once.

You can be trying your best and still feel like you're falling behind.

You can miss someone and know that missing them doesn't mean they were good for you.

You can be healing and still have days when the old hurt finds its way back.

You can love your life in little moments and still struggle with the life you're living.

None of these things makes you ungrateful. None of them makes your pain less real.

And you don't have to turn every painful thing into a lesson immediately. You don't have to find the silver lining before you're allowed to admit that something hurt. Sometimes, something hurts. Sometimes, something is unfair. Sometimes, you need time before you can make sense of any of it.

You're allowed to take that time.

So, if you've somehow found your way here, I want you to know what I hope this little corner of the world can be.

A place where you don't have to perform happiness.

Where you don't have to make your sadness sound pretty or your struggles sound inspirational.

Where you can write the thought you're ashamed of having, admit that you're jealous, confess that you miss being loved a certain way, or say that you're tired of always being the understanding one.

A place where you can be a little messy, a little lost, a little unsure of who you're becoming.

You don't have to arrive here with a brave face.

You don't have to introduce yourself.

You don't have to tell your story if you're not ready to.

You can simply exist here.

And if all you did today was make it through a day that felt impossibly heavy, I'm glad you made it here, too.

I won't promise you that everything will magically work out. I won't ask you to believe in tomorrow when today has already asked so much of you.

But perhaps, for now, we can make a smaller promise.

That we won't be cruel to ourselves for struggling.

That we won't measure our worth by how much pain we can quietly endure.

That we'll try, when we can, to give ourselves some of the gentleness we've spent so long giving away to everyone else.

And that we'll remember that being unseen by someone doesn't mean we're unworthy of being seen.

Maybe the world outside will still be loud tomorrow. Maybe some things will remain unresolved. Maybe you'll wake up with the same questions you went to sleep with.

You don't have to solve all of them tonight.

For now, let your shoulders drop a little.

Unclench your jaw.

Take a breath that belongs to no one but you.

You have spent enough time trying to be everything for everyone.

You can put some of it down here.

Welcome to this little world of ours.

You don't have to be okay to belong here.

And if no one has told you this in a while: you matter, even on the days when you have nothing left to give.

— someone who hopes you find a little softness here.
